MENETES
Menetes, the cleanest village of Karpathos, is situated 8 km southwest of the port of Hora. All over the village, there are signs demanding that visitors keep the village clean, while those who break the rule have to pay a fine. The white houses, built along the road, are beautiful with yellow and blue windows and lots of flowers. The musicians and instrument players of Karpathos come from Menetes, as the area has had ties to Crete ever since ancient years. The sites of the village are the central church of the Assumption, the Byzantine church of Agios Mamas and Agios Antonios and the archaeological collection consisting of findings from the area.
